I've joined a few dating sites. But now I've deleted myself from them.

It's my first blog y'all-be gentle!
I'm going to do a bit of reminiscing about the good old days and
I guess I'll talk a bit about how we native Houstonians talk....
First off, we say the word "crayons" like "crowns".
When we ask for a soft drink or "pop" as some would say, we ask for a "coke" and then we proceed to tell you what kind and flavor. Example : "I'd like a coke for the drink please-may I have a Fanta Strawberry?"
When we are re-telling a story here is how we say it : "So she was asking me if I going around with her boyfriend because they were still together and I was like "what is it to you? and then she said blah, blah, blah"-we actually mean "So she was asking me if I was going around with her boyfriend because they were still together and I was THINKING "what is it to you?" and she said blah, blah." When we say the words "I was like" we don't mean we said it we just mean we were thinking it.
Going around means boyfriend and girlfriend.
Do you remember we used to say "Give me a konky ride?"
Do you remember we used to say "yeah, he thinks he's all big shot just because he has a car now"?
Do you remember when we used to chew those red tablets at school to see how well we had brushed our teeth?
Do you remember the nurse at school used to line you up with the whole classroom to check for lice?
Do you remember it was shameful to have a lunch card because everyone knew only poor people got free lunch?
I remember we used to have programs at school for everything from Mother's day to a dreaded test we used to take every year called the I.O.W.A. test. When I say programs I mean those programs that your parents would be invited to come to during school hours that their child would perform in, whether solo or with a group. It involved lots of singing.
I'll post more as I think of them but I think this is it for the moment.
"Are You Being Served" beckons.....
Oh yes and how can I forget, we say "Waterburger" not "Whataburger"
